Fen to Fell Adventure

IF you liked the sound of Driven to Extremes’ Sahara Expedition covered in last issue’s News pages but fancy something closer to home, you might be interested in its Fen to Fell Adventure (20-23 June), also in support of injured military veterans suffering from PTSD.

It’s a unique opportunity to join an elite group of adventure motorists who have driven the highest track in the UK, the otherwise restricted route to the summit of Great Dun Fell.

Starting at the lowest road in the UK, which is nine feet below sea level, participants will negotiate stunning mountain passes and some of the highest off-road routes in the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines.

At 2782ft above sea level, the final destination of Great Dun Fell is 530ft higher than the highest publicly accessible road or greenlane in the UK and Driven to Extremes is the only organisation granted privileged access to this track and the stunning views it commands.

All you’ll need is a 4x4 that’s suitable to take on some remote tracks, and there’s the added bonus of having a professional support crew in expedition-equipped 4x4s on hand to cover any eventualities.

The entry fee is from just £160 per person, and includes two nights’ campsite accommodation, UHF radio hire and satellite mapping.

Starting in the village of Holme, Cambridgeshire and finishing in Dufton, Cumbria, the total duration is four days.
